Here is a quick and easy snowman door on Buggs room.  I cut 2 large circles for the eyes, 3 slightly smaller ones for the buttons and 6 smaller ones for the mouth out of black cardstock. I then cut a carrot (sorta) out of orange cardstock and used crepe paper for the scarf.
Now Bugg wants me to put one on every door!

Easy DIY Centerpiece

I threw this together with some left over ornaments. I bought too many because I was going to try another project, but it failed. I poured out 1 package or large red ornaments and 2 packages of small ornaments, one gold and one green, onto the carpet. Then I placed them inside thr hurricane randomly. I already had the hurricane and the ornaments were purchased at the dollar store. Cost $3 Time 5 min

Merry Mail

4 Dec

All over the internet I have been seeing Merry Mail, a new way to display your Christmas cards as part of your decor. I thought this was cute and had to make my own. Nothing too fancy.

I look a piece of thin, heavy duty cardboard that my husband brought home from work and wrapped it in wrapping paper that was left over from my 25 Days of Christmas project. I attached 6 strands of ribbon to the back with glue.  Then I punched holes in the top and strung some ribbon through. I decided to have some fun with the clothes pins and make them into reindeer.

Here is my finished product, with my BFF and her beautiful family on display.

DIY Christmas Wreaths

4 Dec

I love decorating the house for Christmas inside and out. This is our first year in our new apartment and I wasn’t quite sure what to do with our front porch. We had a decent porch in our old apartment, but we shared it with other people so we only decorated a portion of it and didn’t do much with the door. I really wanted to do wreaths, but this frugal chick could not justify spending $40 on the doors alone.

So I did what any other good woman would do, I turned to Pinterest and I found a great post by Ami at Alililyblog.com   She has a great tutorial on making a Pottery Barn knock off wreath. The wreath she used for inspiration retails for $79, Ami spent $6.48

My wreath is slightly different, I used both small and large ornaments. I arranged 8 large gold ornaments around the wreath then arranged  1 small red and 1 small green ornament in between each gold one. Then I did the same thing as Ami, attached each one with a twist tie to the wreath. Mine cost $6.50 each, not bad at all.

Here is what mine looks like

The 3rd Day of Christmas

3 Dec

I woke up this morning and had to be a bit sneaky and move some numbers around. We were supposed to get our Christmas tree on the 5th, but we are getting it today instead!
This morning Bugg got a book about finding the perfect Christmas tree. I stuck a note on the back that we are going to find our perfect tree today. That made one happy boy!

Happy December 1st!

Today we continued to kick off the Christmas Season. We woke up to a light snow fall, just enough to make it feel like Christmas time.
The 25 days of Christmas was a huge hit, Bugg can’t wait to open tomorrow’s present! We celebrate almost everything with eggcakes (pancakes) so we made Christmas Tree eggcakes. Then we spent the afternoon with Bugg’s Cousin Gracie and Auntie Tasha at craft fairs and making crafts.

It was a perfect December 1st!

25 Days of Christmas

30 Nov

You will soon find out that I love Christmas and the month of December. I have always known there is something magical about this time of year. The snow falling, the Christmas music, the decorations and Christmas events.
Once I became a mother. I realized everything I thought was magical about Christmas, was more magical than I could have ever imagined when I saw it through my sons eyes.
I wanted to start a new tradition this year to celebrate every day of the season. So I went to work and started seaching on Pinterest.
I came across a post about a Christmas Bucket and new it was the perfect project! Bugg loves to open presents and although this gives him a lot of things to open, most of them are things we already have on hand or something small to introduce a Christmas activity! It was very hard to decide what to do  and on what day, especially since plans change this time of year, sometimes without notice. But once I did, putting together was easy.
I can’t wait to see Bugg’s reaction in the morning!
